The MODIS Joint Atmosphere product, MYDATML2, contains a combination of key science parameters of high interest. The ATML2 product provides a subset of datasets from the entire suite of products from the MODIS atmosphere team at both a 10 km scale (aerosols) and 5km scale (native 5 km cloud properties and a 5x5 pixel sample of the 1km cloud datasets). Note that two sets of geolocation arrays, 5 km and 10 km resolution, are provided in thie product. Some of the science parameters (cloud, water-vapor and cloud mask) have been subsampled to 5 km from the original 1 km data.

The collection 6 product significantly increases the number of datasets included in the ATML2 product, see document link for a complete list, and includes the full suite of QA datasets. Since the ATML2 data granule file size is significantly smaller than the combined size of the individual L2 products, and because the 1 km pixel sampling is consistent with the L3 algorithm, the ATML2 product provides a more practical dataset for the user community to access and use for research. As with the collection 5 product, this product was designed to be compact yet robust enough to be useful to a significant number of MODIS data users.
