CLDCR_L2_VIIRS_SNPP - VIIRS/SNPP Cirrus Reflectance 6-min L2 Swath 750m

The Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) NASA standard Level-2 (L2) cirrus reflectance represents an orbit-level product (Short-name: CLDCR_L2_VIIRS_SNPP) that provides satellite-derived cirrus reflectance measurements. This product uses an adapted version of the MODIS MOD06 algorithm with major modifications and improvements. CLDCR_L2_VIIRS_SNPP draws from the following moderate-resolution (M) solar reflective VIIRS bands: visible/near-infrared; 0.4 – 1.0 µm, M-band 8 (shortwave infrared (SWIR); 1.23 – 1.25 µm), M-band 9 (SWIR; 1.37 – 1.38 µm), M-band 10 (SWIR; 1.58 – 1.64 µm), and M-band 11 (SWIR; 2.23 – 2.28 µm).

The L2 netCDF product contains the following 5 Science Data Set (SDS) layers:

  1. Cirrus Reflectance_Vis_NIR
  2. Cirrus Reflectance_SWIR_M08
  3. Cirrus Reflectance_ SWIR_M10
  4. Cirrus Reflectance_ SWIR_M11
  5. Cirrus Reflectance_QA

In the interest of maintaining manageable file sizes, the related geolocation datasets are not included in this product. The LAADS DAAC maintains and serves the associated geolocation product (VNP03MOD) and the calibrated radiances product (VNP02MOD), both of which users may acquire.

Consult the NASA VIIRS Suomi-NPP Level-2 Cirrus Reflectance Product User Guide for additional information.
