index. An additional brightness temperature (BT) Look-Up Table (LUT) is provided for each thermal emissive band to obtain the corresponding Brightness Temperature (BT). Each data set in the calibrated science data, uncertainty index, and quality flags is a 2D array: SDS_name = [number_of_lines, number_of_pixels] where number_of_lines represents the dimension size in the track direction, which is equal to (number_of_scans x number_of_detectors), and the number_of_pixels represents the dimension size along the scan direction, which is 6400 in the L1B IMG product. The calibrated science data is saved as scaled integers (SI). The SI's data type is 16-bit unsigned integer for I bands. The valid SI range is [0, 65527] for all I bands. The calculated reflectance is actually the product of the true reflectance and the cosine of the solar zenith angle at the pixel location; you need to divide the reconstituted reflectance by the cosine of solar zenith to obtain reflectance. The uncertainty index (UI) is saved as an 8-bit integer. The valid range is [0, 127]. To compute uncertainty in percent from the UI, use the scale_factor for the given band: % uncertainty = 1.0 + scale_factor*UI^2 The band-dependent value of scale_factor is attached as an attribute to each UI SDS. The brightness temperature LUT is a 1D array to convert the SI for each pixel to BT. The size of the LUT is 65536 for all thermal emissive bands. The BT LUT provides a direct mapping from the valid SI value to a BT value.
