Production of SNPP VIIRS v1.0 Black Marble products to stop after January 31, 2025

The VIIRS Black Marble products' users are notified that we plan to discontinue production of SNPP VIIRS v1.0 products that include shortnames VNP46A1, VNP46A2, VNP46A3, and VNP46A4 after January 31, 2025. These v1.0 products (from Jan 19, 2012 through Jan 31, 2025) will remain available in the LAADS archive until September 30, 2025. We will not produce any new SNPP VIIRS v1.0 Black Marble products after Jan 31, 2025. Users are encouraged to use the SNPP VIIRS v2.0 and NOAA-20 VIIRS v2.0 collections of these products. Currently, two sets of products are available (see table). We expect the full collections covering the historical period to become available by late-spring in 2025. The same expected timeframe applies to the monthly and yearly composites for these v2.0 collections.
