Description |
Update: 2020-11-03 -- In response to the Terra Printed Wire Assembly (PWA) failure, the Flight Operations Team (FOT) and the MODIS Instrument Operations Team (IOT) have decided to change the day/night coverage ratio from current 50/50 to 44.2/55.8 to minimize the overflow of onboard buffers. Due to this change there is an observed reduction in the overall Terra daytime coverage. For more information about the change and coverage reduction, please consult this link. On October 5, 2020 MODIS Terra experienced a Printed Wire Assemblies (PWA) failure. This failure caused Terra MODIS partial to full science data loss where the data could not be played back because of recording on the faulty PWA. Processing of immediate data days delayed for confirmation of data loss from potential buffer overwrite and possible recovery of these data from DB stations. For more information about data loss and latest situation, please consult this link. |
